Flexion Distraction Technique

What is flexion distraction technique?

Flexion distraction is a technique used by chiropractors to treat multiple conditions of the lumbar spine. Flexion distraction technique increases spinal motion and helps to resolve disc bulges and disc herniations. The technique takes the pressure off of spinal nerves that may be injured or dysfunctional. Flexion distraction technique has saved many patients from ongoing pain management, discomfort, temporary disability and spinal surgery.

How is flexion distraction technique performed?

The flexion distraction technique uses a special table designed to flex and distract, or stretch, the spine in a gentle rhythmic motion. The patient lies effortlessly as Dr. Brenda L. Rooney uses the table to restore normal physiological range of motion to the spinal joints by stretching their lower back and spine. This allows the spine to move in a manner that removes pressure from the disc bulge. Our patients state that the flexion distraction technique feels quite good and even offers immediate pain release.
